Tooth Whitening

How can I ensure my teeth look – and stay white?

There are many reasons why teeth discolour. The most common causes are ageing, consumption of staining substances (listed below), trauma, nerve degeneration and old restorations.

Whilst you can’t do much about getting older, you can help keep your teeth brighter by brushing regularly for two minutes a day with a fluoride toothpaste, regular flossing or using interdental brushes and visiting our dental hygienist as regularly as recommended. You can also cut down on the following most staining substances.

Top five things to avoid for brighter, whiter teeth:

One of the easiest ways to rejuvenate and revitalise your smile is by whitening your teeth. Having a brighter smile can boost your self-confidence and it is a safe procedure when undertaken by a trained dental professional – the only people legally allowed to perform the treatment in the UK.

Before any treatment, your mouth will be fully examined to ensure there are no dental problems that need addressing first. After comparing the colour of your teeth to our shade guide, our dentists will provide you with a home kit complete with whitening product and specially made trays that are unique to your mouth.

What does whitening treatment involve?

We use a traditional home tooth whitening system using custom fitted, ultra thin trays that are worn at night or if preferred during the day, to gradually whiten your teeth over a two week period.

Tooth whitening at Acorn Villas Dental Practice costs from £200 – ask us for details.
