Sugar Free February

February 14, 2017 by acornvillas-dp

We have been promoting the campaign Sugar Free February. These are some examples of what effect sugar has on your teeth:

Dental Erosion

Acid.

Soft drinks, energy drinks and juices contain lots of acid and sugar that destroy teeth. Acid softens enamel and chemically dissolves the outer layer of the teeth.
This is called Dental Erosion.

Sugar.

Sugar feeds bacteria. Energy drinks, soft drinks and fruit juices are liquid candy due to the high sugar levels. This promotes bacteria growth and dental decay.
Decay.

Decay is caused when the mouth’s bacteria reacts to sugar. The chemical interaction between bacteria and sugar produces acid which can damage your teeth.
Prevention.

Healthy food and drinks for my teeth.
